Questions

Answers before you walk in

General information only. Your own history decides what happens in clinic.

Appointments

Use the appointment form on this website or call 94416 34111. Clinic hours are 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday to Saturday. Sunday is a holiday. A team member will confirm timing based on availability.

Bring prior reports, imaging CDs or printouts, a medicine list, and inhalers you currently use. Exact requirements are confirmed when your slot is scheduled.

The form captures a preferred date and time. It is a request, not a confirmed booking, until the clinic replies.

Tests

Not always. Testing is recommended when it will change assessment or treatment, after history and examination.

Spirometry needs forceful exhalation and can feel tiring. Pulse oximetry is painless. Invasive tests are explained separately if they are being considered.

Asthma

No. Asthma can present or persist in adulthood. Evaluation looks at symptoms, triggers and lung function.

Do not change prescribed medicines unless the clinic gives specific test-day instructions.

COPD

They can share symptoms but are different conditions. Spirometry and history help distinguish them; some people have overlapping features.

Yes. Stopping smoking remains one of the most important steps at any stage. Support can be discussed in clinic.

Cough

In adults, a cough lasting around eight weeks is often called chronic. Duration alone does not explain the cause.

Persistent cough, especially with warning symptoms, needs clinical review rather than repeated over-the-counter cycles.

Breathlessness

No. Heart conditions, anaemia, fitness and other factors can contribute. Assessment is designed to sort these safely.

Sudden severe breathlessness, blue lips, chest pain, fainting or inability to speak full sentences needs emergency care.

Sleep

No. Snoring is common. Sleep apnoea is considered when there are pauses, unrefreshing sleep or daytime sleepiness — confirmed only after proper evaluation.

Usually not. History comes first; a study is arranged if it is likely to help.

Smoking

Support for stopping smoking can be discussed during consultation. Programmes and medicines, if appropriate, are individualised.

Feeling well does not always mean lungs are unaffected. Whether testing is useful depends on age, exposure and symptoms, decided in clinic.
